Birdwatching and more about CATIE

CATIE's Bird Monitoring Program (BMP) is a research and educational program whose main objective is to monitor the impact that different land uses have on certain species of birds.

 

This allows the program to research and monitor birds in their diverse natural habitats as well as agricultural and agro-forest areas.

 

This program has identified over 300 species of endemic and migratory species.

 

 

 Additionally, they invite birdwatchers to be part of their program through regularly scheduled field visits.

 

Price: $80 one person, 2-6 people $65/person.

 

Length: Approximately 4 hours.

 

Departures: 6:00am or 1:30pm (very flexible).

 

What is included: Pick up from your hotel. A Professional Guide certified by ICT (Costa Rican Tourism Institute) and INBio (Biodiversity National Institute) will accompany you. Breakfast (snacks and fruits) and Lunch and CD with pictures.

 

What to bring? Closed-toed shoes (hiking shoes always the best), sunblock, bug spray, hat/cap, water, rain gear or ponchos, extra food, medicines, binoculars, cameras, extra clothes.
