Turrialba Active

Note: This tour is for you if you are in Turrialba.

 

The tour is very active as we have included 3 activities in one day.

 

Travel from downtown Turrialba to the town of Guayabo in about 30 minutes on public transportation. Once you arrive, you will enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast. Around 8 am we will go to the Guayabo Archeological Monument, an architectural jewel of Costa Rica and Central America. 

 

This tour will be unique as we will walk into this magical place, where very often we will spot beautiful animals such as sloths, many species of birds, vipers and more, and of course, where we will get to see the best sights of this sacred place. This walk is about 2 hours. 

Next, we hop on our MTB and start our tour on a rural gravel road uphill for about 8km or 5 miles until connect with a paved road.

 

Here we start a 12 km or 8 miles downhill ride to Turrialba. We will stop for lunch in a Soda or Costa Rican restaurant.

 

After our delicious meal, we go to CATIE, one of the highlights in this town. We will have a nature walk looking for wildlife as well as learning about a great variety of different plantations such as sugar cane, cocoa, palm, coffee and more. Length in this section of the trip: between 2-3 hours.

 

Price per person: $110 per person (2 people minimum and 6 people maximum).

 

Length: 9-10 hours.

 

¿What to bring? Lycra, dry fit clothing, sunblock, hat/cap, water, rain gear or ponchos, extra food, medicines, cameras, extra clothes.

 

It includes: Breakfast and lunch, MTB bikes and equipment (helmet, gloves, reflecting vest), assistance car, entrance to CATIE and the Guayabo Monument. CD with pictures.

 

Ages: Appropriate for people from 14-60 years of age.
